Malaysia: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia reports 19% rise in Q2 net profit
Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia, the listed local unit of Danish beer maker Carlsberg, said on August 17 its net profit rose 19% in the second quarter from a year earlier due to higher sales volume and one-off trade discount adjustment in Singapore, Nikkei Asian Review reported.
Net profit for the three months ended Jun. 30 was 60.92 million ringgit ($14.20 million) compared to 51.36 million ringgit over the same period last year, Carlsberg said in an exchange filing. Quarterly revenue rose 4.1% year-on-year to 412.14 million ringgit from 395.83 million ringgit.
"The 2017 market conditions are expected to remain challenging," Carlsberg said. "Nevertheless, the group is confident to meet the challenges and deliver a satisfactory performance," the company said without elaborating further.
